What is perpetual futures paper trading?

It is practicing perpetual contracts using a simulated balance. A perpetual, or perp, has no scheduled expiry and provides exposure to an underlying price without ownership of the asset. You can practice long and short positions, observe funding, and learn how margin and liquidation work.

Gobi is a perps trading simulator. Market prices are live; your balance, orders, profit and loss, fees, and funding payments are virtual. Paper trading, practice trading, and demo trading describe the same learning intent here.

Practice the mechanics, then explain the result.

Order entry

Choose Buy or Short and Market or Limit. Review the amount and exposure before confirming a virtual order.

Leverage and margin

Fees and funding

An AI coach

Ask Gobi to explain a term, chart, or virtual position. It can help prepare a practice trade for your review and confirmation.

One example: the same move, different exposure

Imagine two virtual longs, each with $200 of margin. At 2× leverage, the first has $400 of exposure. At 5×, the second has $1,000. A 2% price fall creates about $8 and $20 of price loss respectively, before costs. The same price move affects more of the second position’s margin.

These are hypothetical round numbers, not current market prices or a suggested trade. The margin and liquidation guide explains why liquidation cannot be calculated from leverage alone.

What the simulator can and cannot teach

Practice helps you learn the controls, distinguish costs from price movement, and review decisions. It cannot reproduce every real fill, liquidity condition, or emotional response to financial loss. A profitable virtual account does not predict future real-money results.

Gobi’s available markets include perpetuals referencing crypto and other assets. Check the in-app market list for current availability. Trading a stock- or commodity-referenced contract in the simulator does not give you shares, metal, or cryptocurrency.

Questions before you start

Do I need to deposit money?

No. The practice account uses virtual funds supplied in the app. Its balance and gains have no cash value and cannot be withdrawn.

Can I trade in this website?

The website has open learning guides. Practice orders are placed in the Gobi mobile app, available through the App Store and Google Play links.

Does Gobi use live prices?

Yes. Market data reflects live markets, while trade execution and all account results remain simulated. Data can still be interrupted or delayed; check the current screen before confirming an order.

Is paper trading the same as a real exchange account?

No. Gobi is an educational simulator, not a broker or cryptocurrency exchange. It does not execute real-money trades or custody funds in the practice account.
